I spend two mindful days
With some of our high schoolers
And I think of how young they are
And then I envy their opportunity
To make all the right choices
To avoid all the mistakes that I had made
But then the thought vanishes
When I realize that
The mistakes we make in this life
Are no more mistakes
Than they are simply choices that got us here.
